Because they live and play in a cageless environment, our animals are friendly and well-adjusted. There are also Special Needs animals available for adoption. To learn more about them, go to Special Needs Adoptables. Behind the Red Door Prior to adoption, all Red Door animals are spayed/neutered and vet-checked. Cats and dogs are microchipped. Also: Cats are tested for FIV and Fel V. Dogs are tested for heartworms. Both cats & dogs receive distemper and rabies vaccines; dogs receive the bordatella vaccine as well. Rabbits are litterbox-trained. Adoption fee is $75 for cats and rabbits, $125 for dogs. Who Can Adopt? You must be 22 years of age. Current identification must show your correct address and phone number. You must be employed or have a stable source of income. You must be able to provide a landlord's name and number or a copy of your current lease, if you rent. You must provide the name and number of your past or current vet. How to Adopt As a potential adopter, you must complete our screening process, which includes an adoption application. Fill out this form, email it to us and we will call you within 48 hours to schedule an appointment with an adoption counselor. Or you can pick up an adoption application at the Red Door Adoption Center, 2410 W. Lunt, Chicago. Adoption counselors strive to find the right home for each animal and the right animal for each home. Adoption hours: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 1-8 p.m.; Thursday 1-7 p.m.; Friday, Saturday & Sunday 12-5 p.m. Please arrive one hour ahead of closing time. Appointments are highly recommended.
